The community will soon have a chance to hear directly from renowned Wisconsin authors Jerry Apps and David McGlynn at Mid-State Technical College’s annual “Wisconsin Writers Connect.” The authors will share readings on the meaning of family on the College’s Stevens Point Campus Monday, April 29, at 6 p.m. The event also includes an awards presentation and readings from winners of Mid-State’s second-annual Write on the Money contest for students. The free event is open to the public and includes refreshments.

Mid-State Technical College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) chapter, Beta Chi Theta, took first place out of 25 chapters in the Wisconsin Region for its Honors in Action (HIA) project and was named third most distinguished chapter in the state. The awards were announced at the PTK regional conference held in Wausau, March 9–10, where Beta Chi Theta also achieved Five-Star Status for its work to recognize academic excellence, organize leadership structures in the chapter, develop and submit the HIA and College projects and be active at the regional and international levels.

RegisteredNursing.org ranked Mid-State Technical College ninth in Wisconsin for the 2019 Best RN Programs. Forty colleges in Wisconsin that offer programming leading to an associate in nursing (ADN/ASN), a bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) or a direct entry MSN were part of the evaluation. Nursing programs were assessed on several factors, including how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond.

The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) announced the 2019 Paragon Award recipients this week at its annual national conference held in San Antonio, Texas. Mid-State Technical College received silver in the advertising category, specifically for their 2018 television/video ad- series, “What Can’t You Do at Mid-State?”
