Mid-State Technical College recently announced the winners of its second-annual student writing contest, “Write on the Money.” In the research paper category, Alaina Irving, Pre-Nursing student from Plover, took first place with “Cut the Cards, Cut the Debt.” Colette Stoflet, Administrative Professional student from Plover was named runner up with “Pet Peeves or Positive Pets.” In the essay category, Dwayne Dino Ortiz Jr., Corrections & Community Advocacy student from Stevens Point, took first place with “Moments of Change.” Brandie Sedwick, Accounting student from Marshfield, was named runner up with “A Nurse’s Narrative: Being Prepared.”

Mid-State student Jessye "Ann" Ilagan, Plover, has been elected by Wisconsin Student Government (WSG) to serve as the organization's president for the 2019–2020 academic year. Ilagan, a Marketing and Business Management student at Mid-State, was elected at the April 12 WSG governors meeting held on the College’s Stevens Point Campus.

PTK provides the Five Star Advisor designation to chapter advisors who successfully complete special advisor training requirements developed by PTK to support chapter advisors in their work as caregiver, advocate, sustainer and leader of their PTK organization. It includes a focus on PTK awareness and recruiting, engaging membership, active participation in regional and international programming, developing student leaders and supporting undergraduate research.
