Mid-State Technical College celebrated the achievements of its newest graduates on Sunday, May 19, in a combined commencement ceremony for all four Mid-State campuses in Adams, Marshfield, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids. Over 2 ,000 attendees witnessed 248 graduates receiving their associate degree and technical diplomas during the event held at SentryWorld in Stevens Point. The ceremony was also livestreamed on the College’s YouTube channel.

Ashley Jaramillo, Plainfield, is poised to graduate from Mid-State Technical College’s Business Management program this Sunday, but it wasn’t always a given that she would achieve the milestone.

Being asked to give the student address at Mid-State Technical College’s commencement was an unexpected turn for Baylie Disher of Rosholt. Almost as surprising as attending Mid-State at all. Right out of high school, Disher’s path to university was built on the solid foundation of her Christian faith and a clear vision that she would become a physician’s assistant at the end of it. But some of the classes she encountered weren’t going well, or in her words, “I could not do chemistry or biology to save my life.”

Mid-State Technical College’s commencement on Sunday, May 19, will mark the culmination of one incredible transformation by student Vikram Gill of Stevens Point. After two unsuccessful attempts as a university student, Gill turned his quick reset at Mid-State into a deep investment in life as a technical college student, ultimately earning the opportunity to represent the College at the state level as a WTCS Ambassador.
