Mid-State hosts Admit Day event, presents $5,000 ‘Big Decision Scholarship’

Nearly 180 graduating high school seniors and their supporters attended Mid-State Technical College’s annual Admit Day event on May 2 to celebrate their decision to enroll as Mid-State students.

Natasha Janicki: One Graduate’s Journey to Success in Civil Engineering

When Natasha Janicki first enrolled in Mid-State’s Civil Engineering Technology–Highway Technician program, she wasn’t sure college was the right path for her. Growing up with a mom who worked in civil engineering, she always knew she wanted to work in the field, operating heavy machinery, moving earth, and building roads and bridges. But sitting in a classroom? That felt distant from the real action.

Mid-State Technical College will host its spring graduation on Saturday, May 17. The outdoor ceremony is designed to celebrate all graduating students, their families and invited guests.

New HVAC-R program now offered at Mid-State

Mid-State Technical College is offering a new Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Technician associate in applied science program. Applications are now being accepted for the 60-credit program.

This June, Mid-State Technical College will host two sessions of HealthQuest: Nursing Exploration Camp for high school students to explore the role of a registered nurse.

Jail Officer Academy program now available at Mid-State

Mid-State Technical College is now offering a Jail Officer Academy program to prepare learners for positions as corrections officers in county jails. The 200-hour program is accredited by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and fulfills state certification requirements.

Student housing is now available for Mid-State Technical College students at The Villas at Marshfield. An open house event was held on April 16 for the public to visit Mid-State’s Marshfield Campus and The Villas.

Mid-State Technical College will again host its free Metal Mania machining training program this summer.

111 Mid-State apprentices receive ‘Tools of the Trade’ scholarship from Ascendium

A record 111 Mid-State Technical College construction and industrial trade apprentices received Tools of the Trade scholarships from Ascendium this year. Each apprentice received $2,000 to use toward the purchase of equipment, tools, clothing, tuition and other needs to help them complete the required education and training for their trade.
