Fuse Your Future

Free Summer Welding Program

Fuse Your Future at Mid-State Technical College is open to high school students, college students, those currently employed, and job seekers interested in the high demand field of welding. Student tuition is fully sponsored by the Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance (CWIMA). Learners who successfully complete the program will earn the Fuse Your Future: Welding local certificate and three Mid-State Welding program credits.

Print Reading for Welding • 1 credit
Mondays – Thursdays, July 8 – August 1

Students study print format, line types, orthographic views, dimensioning, welding symbols, and bill of materials. Students apply concepts by creating and fabricating from prints in individual and group activities.    

Gas Metal Arc Welding: Introduction • 2 credits
Mondays – Thursdays, July 8 – August 1
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Class #: 41044
Learners will use GMAW processes to weld on steel sheet metals and plates, focusing on axial spray, pulse spray and short circuit modes of transfer. Learners will understand written welding procedures and weld symbols and weld in several positions.
