Universal Precautions

Policies & Procedures

In order to comply with state and federal regulations with regard to blood-borne pathogens, Mid-State has adopted a district-wide Universal Precautions Policy. Universal Precautions is a method of infection control in which all human blood and certain human body fluids are treated as if known to be infectious for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), HBV (Hepatitis B Virus), or other bloodborne pathogens. Anyone who may have been exposed to another person's blood and/or body fluids through accident/injury/illness on Mid-State property must report the incident as soon as possible to an Mid-State staff member so that the proper paperwork and follow-up procedures can be initiated.
