Mid-State Tech-Con 2.0

Students in grades 9 – 12 interested in learning skills in various computer science areas are invited to attend this event. It will be a fun competition of several different scenarios. No IT experience is required, but you’re not going to want to miss this. Prizes will be given to the top teams.

Lunch and refreshments are provided for all participants.

Activities

Below are activities planned for Mid-State Tech-Con! Activities are subject to change.

  • Website Hacking: Learn some hacking and find the hidden password on the website to login and steal the data. 
  • Lock Picking: Pick a lock, a door, and more at this hands-on station!
  • Virtual Reality (VR) Village: Play games in VR!
  • Retro Computing Village: Oregon Trail, Minesweeper, Atari? We have them all on their original operating systems for you to play.
  • Rouge Access Point Challenge: Find access points hidden around campus with a Wi-Fi detection tool and laptop.
  • Near Field Communication (NFC) Programming: Reprogram an NFC chip to do something new: open a website, change settings on your phone, and more with a tap of a phone.
  • Soldering Village: Learn to solder hardware and make your own physical products at this village!
  • Cryptography Station (Cipher Cracking): Crack codes, find the hidden message, and learn something new with this village.
