Administrative Assistant

Assistant Teacher

Job Description: Aides the teacher in the classroom, prepares supplies, helps with food service, and supervises children as assigned.

Skills needed: Be able to lift 35 pounds, be able to bend or pick up children for diapering, stoop to a one-year-olds eye level, sit on floor with children, interact warmly with children, assist in maintaining children's records. Reliability and attendance are crucial for this position. Will need CPR certification.


Bookstore Assistant

Classroom Assistant

Department: CAP Services

Campus: Stevens Point Area

Approximate number of hours: 10-20

Job Description:

  • Assist teaching staff with classroom routines, transitions, and activities for all children within the program.
  • Assist in maintaining the center in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Provide general support to the center as needed, which may include assisting with meal preparation and service and janitorial services.
  • Follow Licensing Child Care Regulations for the State of Wisconsin and ADA Standards, CAP Employee Handbook and NAEYC Code of Ethics.
  • Follow the Education Philosophy, Child Guidance and Individual Guidance Policies when working with children.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to include oral, written and listening skills.
  • In accordance with Section 4.48.981 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, staff are mandated reporters and must report suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Provide an environment of understanding for each child and family, build ethnic pride, develop a positive self-concept, recognize individual strengths, and reinforce social development.

Skills needed:

  • Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of one course in Early Childhood Education from an institute of higher education.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current certificate of completion for infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 3 months of hire and a certificate of completion of Shaken Baby Syndrome training prior to working at the center.
  • In accordance with Wisconsin Child Care Regulations, must be willing to submit to and pass a Criminal Background Check and Background Information Disclosure.
  • Must be able to work effectively with multi-cultural situations.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Employee must be physically and emotionally able to work with young children and successfully pass a physical, TB test.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly through two-way verbal and written communication.
  • Must have good auditory and visual acuity in order to provide supervision to a group of children.

Humane Society

Job Description: Multiple positions available ranging from cat and dog room to kitchen assistant. Duties vary depending on specific role: Dog room assistant includes cleaning kennels, assisting dog walkers, intake of stray/surrendered animals. LiNK Assistant

Meals on Wheels Driver

Department: Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin

Job Description: Must pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive and have insurance coverage on your vehicle. Must be able to take the meals to the participant’s home.

Skills needed: Must be able to read and follow written directions and maps, keep and maintain accurate records.


Nursing Assistant

Outreach Assistant

Job Description: Key member of the customer service team in the Student Services Information Center. Assist students/customers with service needs related to Mid-State, i.e. MyMSTC (registration, transcripts, paying for college), applying for financial aid, applying to Mid-State, etc. Assist in helping our students/customers feel welcome.

Skills needed: Strong customer services skills, moderate-high degree of comfort with computer systems and software, i.e. MS Office, MyMSTC, email, etc. A strong desire and comfort in working with individuals 1:1 and in small groups (2-3 people), strong organizational skills, friendly, and an advocate of Mid-State Technical College and the Mid-State experience.


Patient Visitor

Job Description: Interact directly with patients providing companionship and socialization. Do you enjoy visiting, listening, reading, music, walks, movies, playing cards, games, or puzzles? Flexible schedules when matched with a Heartland Hospice patient. Visits range from 2-4 times per month and can be increased or you can visit multiple patients.

Program Leader

Job Description: Program Leaders are responsible for direct service to the club members, including facilitating program plans, club management, behavior management and facilities management. In addition Program Leaders work closely with volunteers, director and other organizational initiatives that support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.

Shelter Care Assistant

Job Description: The Humane Society of Portage County is looking for additional shelter help during our high population time. The duties for this position would be general cleaning help, including but not limited to, laundry, dishes, sweeping/mopping floors, washing windows and weeding. There is a possibility to help with animal cleaning for candidates who complete our Advanced Animal Handling Training.

Skills needed: We are seeking candidates who are able to work well independently, but also have good communication skills to work with our shelter care team. Previous cleaning experience and experience with animal messes is a plus but not required!
