Program Leader

Job Description: Program Leaders are responsible for direct service to the club members, including facilitating program plans, club management, behavior management and facilities management. In addition Program Leaders work closely with volunteers, director and other organizational initiatives that support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.

Skills needed: Experience in working with children is a plus but not mandatory, ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems, ability to deal with the general public, ability to implement quality programs for youth, ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

Meals on Wheels Driver

Department: Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin

Job Description: Must pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive and have insurance coverage on your vehicle. Must be able to take the meals to the participant’s home.

Classroom Assistant

Department: CAP Services

Job Description:

  • Assist teaching staff with classroom routines, transitions, and activities for all children within the program.
  • Assist in maintaining the center in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Provide general support to the center as needed, which may include assisting with meal preparation and service and janitorial services.
  • Follow Licensing Child Care Regulations for the State of Wisconsin and ADA Standards, CAP Employee Handbook and NAEYC Code of Ethics.
  • Follow the Education Philosophy, Child Guidance and Individual Guidance Policies when working with children.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to include oral, written and listening skills.
  • In accordance with Section 4.48.981 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, staff are mandated reporters and must report suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Provide an environment of understanding for each child and family, build ethnic pride, develop a positive self-concept, recognize individual strengths, and reinforce social development.

Skills needed:

  • Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of one course in Early Childhood Education from an institute of higher education.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current certificate of completion for infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 3 months of hire and a certificate of completion of Shaken Baby Syndrome training prior to working at the center.
  • In accordance with Wisconsin Child Care Regulations, must be willing to submit to and pass a Criminal Background Check and Background Information Disclosure.
  • Must be able to work effectively with multi-cultural situations.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Employee must be physically and emotionally able to work with young children and successfully pass a physical, TB test.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly through two-way verbal and written communication.
  • Must have good auditory and visual acuity in order to provide supervision to a group of children.

Testing Center Proctor

Head Start Office Assistant

Campus: Community based position – Wisconsin Rapids

Job Description: Filing, updating forms, small special projects like making name tags and putting together binders.

Skills needed: Must be reliable. Must be able to follow direction and work with minimal supervision. Will be required to fill out application and sign release for background check.

Humane Society

Job Description: Multiple positions available ranging from cat and dog room to kitchen assistant. Duties vary depending on specific role: Dog room assistant includes cleaning kennels, assisting dog walkers, intake of stray/surrendered animals. Cat room assistant includes cleaning cages, feedings, handling of cats. Kitchen assistant includes cleaning, dishes, laundry, sorting donations, etc. 

Skills needed: Must be comfortable working with animals and reliable. All other skills will be trained.

Patient Visitor

Support Specialist

Job Description: Responsible for providing the necessary support, training and  assistance needed for individuals in internal ODC work programs and Day Services, or at community employment sites, volunteering or connecting with their community. Clients may have multiple needs including but not limited to:  cognitive, mental health, physical, medical, or learning disabilities.  Assistance may be one to one with individuals with significant disabilities and/or may be multiple interactions addressing the needs of multiple individuals with special needs. 

Skills needed: Work cooperatively with all people. Maintain a professional image while working at community sites. Possess awareness of realistic work expectations regarding quality of work, and appropriate work behaviors.Perform creative problem solving as needs arise for individual at their work site or in the community.

Ability to understand, follow, carry out written directions, plans, and procedures. Recognize the value of work for all and believe that all people can work. Allow individual to become as independent as possible in all aspects.

Shelter Care Assistant

Job Description: The Humane Society of Portage County is looking for additional shelter help during our high population time. The duties for this position would be general cleaning help, including but not limited to, laundry, dishes, sweeping/mopping floors, washing windows and weeding. There is a possibility to help with animal cleaning for candidates who complete our Advanced Animal Handling Training.

Skills needed: We are seeking candidates who are able to work well independently, but also have good communication skills to work with our shelter care team. Previous cleaning experience and experience with animal messes is a plus but not required!
