Mid-State, partners seeking employers for job fair in Adams

April 10, 2024

Mid-State Technical College, in partnership with Adams-Friendship High School (AFHS), Adams County Economic Development, Adams County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and Gundersen Moundview Hospitals and Clinics, is seeking Adams area employers with summer and part-time opportunities for high school students.

Mid-State and its partners are hosting a Workforce Professionalism Day for AFHS juniors on Thursday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A job fair will be held at the end of the event to connect AFHS high schoolers with local employers.

“Participating in the Adams-Friendship High School Job Fair is a cost-effective way for businesses to quickly fill immediate hiring needs by conducting on-the-spot interviews and potentially making job offers to qualified candidates,” said Adams County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism executive director Megan Steckelberg. “Job fairs are a valuable investment for local businesses looking to attract top talent, build their employer brand and strengthen their presence in the community.”

According to Steckelberg, employers from diverse industries and sectors are encouraged to attend the job fair. “Employers can connect with qualified candidates, build their talent pipeline and promote their employment opportunities to a large audience,” she said.

At the Workforce Professionalism Day, AFHS juniors will experience a day of interactive breakout sessions relating to job search and interview prep, social media and professionalism, workforce communication and personal and professional development. Students will also receive a completion certificate from Mid-State that can be displayed on their résumé to show that they have received workforce and professionalism training. AFHS juniors can register for the event at their counseling office.

“The Workforce Professionalism Day is a great opportunity for high schoolers to gain skills that will set them up for success as they begin their career journey,” said Jackie Esselman, Mid-State dean of Recruitment and Admissions. “Some of these skills may not be taught in a regular classroom setting, so it is important to provide this opportunity for young job seekers. Attendees will be able to build their résumé with a workforce and professionalism training completion certificate.”
