Stevens Point-based technology company supports regional effort to strengthen public safety education and training across central Wisconsin

Mid-State Technical College is proud to announce a $100,000 commitment from Skyward in support of the Nexus Public Safety Center, a transformational education and training complex planned for Stevens Point.

The investment represents a significant commitment from one of central Wisconsin's leading employers to strengthen the training, technology and resources available to current and future public safety professionals.

A longtime Stevens Point-based technology company serving school districts across the country, Skyward recognizes the importance of investing in the communities where its employees live and work. Its contribution will help advance the Nexus campaign and the development of modern, realistic training environments for law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, corrections and other public safety disciplines.

"At Skyward, we believe strong communities are built through partnerships and investments that create lasting impact," said Scott Glinski, chief executive officer of Skyward. "The Nexus Public Safety Center is an opportunity to strengthen public safety across central Wisconsin by giving first responders the training and resources they need to protect the people who live and work here. We're proud to support this important investment in our region's future."

Developed through a partnership between Mid-State Technical College, the City of Stevens Point and public safety agencies throughout the region, Nexus will bring education and emergency response training together in one centralized location.

The approximately $45 million project includes a 71,000-square-foot complex housing Mid-State's public safety education and training center, a new City of Stevens Point fire station and a satellite police station, along with extensive outdoor training environments. Designed to serve all 62 public safety agencies within Mid-State's district, the center will provide opportunities for realistic, scenario-based training and increased collaboration across public safety disciplines.

For those responsible for preparing future law enforcement and corrections professionals, investments like Skyward's directly support the region's ability to meet evolving workforce and training demands.

"Public safety professionals face increasingly complex situations that require sound judgment, technical skills and the ability to work together under pressure," said Kurt Heuer, director of the Law Enforcement and Jail Academy at Mid-State Technical College. "Nexus will allow us to move beyond the limitations of our current training environments and provide the kind of realistic, hands-on experiences that prepare individuals for what they will encounter in the field. Skyward's investment brings us another step closer to making that level of training available right here in central Wisconsin."

The Nexus Public Safety Center campaign officially launched September 30, 2026, with more than $2.5 million already raised toward the project. Support from businesses like Skyward is helping build momentum and demonstrating the shared responsibility of preparing the individuals who protect and serve central Wisconsin communities.

"Skyward's generous commitment is a powerful example of what it means for businesses to invest in the long-term strength and safety of their communities," said Dr. Shelly Mondeik, president of Mid-State Technical College. "As a company with deep roots in central Wisconsin, Skyward understands that a thriving region depends on strong partnerships. We're incredibly grateful for their leadership in helping bring Nexus to life and hope their example inspires others to join us."

The Nexus campaign welcomes support from businesses, foundations, community organizations and individuals interested in helping build the future of public safety. Contributions will support the development of modern training facilities, specialized learning environments and equipment designed to prepare the next generation of public safety professionals while expanding training opportunities for those already serving.
