Ag Rescue Training
Event Info
Emergency response to farm incidents remains a challenge to rescue services.
It is also challenging when fewer personnel in today’s rural departments have agricultural backgrounds. This program is designed for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and fire rescue personnel to supplement basic emergency knowledge, skills, and ability with training for agricultural incidents. Ag Rescue Training will challenge your knowledge regarding specific farm incident situations while providing take-home-and-use information.

Participants are encouraged to dress in anticipation for an active day and be prepared for inclement weather as workshops are held outdoors.
Each participant is responsible for bringing the appropriate PPE including:
- Full turnout gear or extrication gear including boots/safety shoes, gloves, helmets, and eye protection.
- SCBA is required for the Manure Pit Rescue (Workshop C). Air refilling will be available onsite.
4-Gas Monitor Program
On August 15th, 2016, Mike Biadasz was agitating a large outdoor manure pit on the family farm when he was fatally overcome by hydrogen sulfide gas. Mike’s family established a gas monitor program to help prevent other families from enduring the same kind of tragedy.
Supported by the Mike Biadasz Farm Safety and Education Memorial Fund and the National Farm Medicine Center, the Agriculture Rescue Training program will provide your department with a FREE 4-gas monitor when you register three or more department members to the event.
The meters supplied by the Agriculture Rescue Training program are intended to keep both first responders and agricultural community members safe. We hope that farmers and ranchers in your area will utilize them with your guidance.
Lastly, your area needs to know about any prevention or educational programs you are implementing with the gas monitor and how you acquired the equipment – tell your story and why it’s important for everyone’s safety.
Learn more about Mike’s story.
