Registration is now open for Mid-State Technical College’s Spring 2027 semester, with opportunities for new and continuing students to begin or continue working toward their education and career goals.

Spring classes begin Jan. 25 and run through May 19. Students ready to start a program don’t have to wait until fall. Mid-State offers spring start dates across a variety of career areas, giving students more ways to get started when the timing is right for them.

Spring-start programs include options in business, healthcare, information technology, culinary arts, skilled trades and more. Students can choose from programs such as Business Management, Medical Assistant, IT Cybersecurity Specialist, Culinary Arts, Welding and Metal Fabrication, among others. Those planning to pursue a bachelor's degree can also begin at Mid-State through its University Transfer programs, completing general education courses and earning credits toward a four-year degree.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the state is projected to add approximately 225,000 jobs between 2022 and 2032, with healthcare among the leading areas of growth.

“Central Wisconsin employers in healthcare, manufacturing and the skilled trades need workers, and many of these careers pay family-supporting wages,” said Brian Kalish, executive director of Advance Wisconsin Employment. “A lot of adults are ready for something new but unsure where to start. Accessible training like Mid-State's is often the fastest path into a better-paying, in-demand career, and Advance Wisconsin Employment is glad to partner with Mid-State to help people take that next step.”

Mid-State programs combine classroom learning with practical, career-focused experiences designed to prepare students for the workplace. Depending on the program, students may also have access to flexible course formats, including online, in-person and hybrid classes, that make it easier to balance college with work and other responsibilities.

Students who aren’t ready to begin a full program can enroll in individual spring courses. General education and program-specific courses offer opportunities to earn credits, continue progress toward a credential or take the next step toward a future program.

With associate degrees, technical degrees and certificates available, students can choose an education path that matches their goals and timeline. Eligible adults and dislocated workers may also qualify for workforce training assistance through Advance Wisconsin Employment to help cover education costs.
