Elizabeth Smart on stage, addressing an audience.

Mid-State Technical College will host Elizabeth Smart for an inspiring and powerful community presentation, “From Survival to Strength: Resilience in the Face of Trauma,” on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. at the Sentry Theater, 1800 North Point Drive, in Stevens Point.

Elizabeth Smart is a bestselling author, passionate public speaker and dedicated advocate for child safety and survivor empowerment. Known worldwide for her remarkable survival story, Smart has transformed her personal tragedy into a powerful platform for change. Her work focuses on prevention, recovery and advocacy, inspiring hope and providing practical guidance for individuals and families facing adversity.

During this special community conversation, Smart will share her journey of healing and resilience, emphasizing that, while her past is part of her story, it does not define her future. Her message centers on overcoming extreme adversity, reclaiming one’s life and finding hope and purpose even in life’s most difficult detours.

Smart’s advocacy has influenced national safety legislation, including the National AMBER Alert and the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. She is also the founder of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, now part of the Malouf Foundation, dedicated to ending sexual violence and exploitation through prevention, recovery and advocacy programs.

Her story continues to reach new audiences with the January 2026 debut of the Netflix documentary, “Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart,” featuring exclusive firsthand accounts from Smart, her family and investigators detailing her nine-month captivity, rescue and life over the past two decades.

This meaningful and impactful event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and seats are limited. Reserve yours at mstc.edu/elizabeth-smart.
