| Network Username and Initial Password The following procedures are for accessing MSTC's computer network. There are separate, additional procedures for students enrolled in MSTC online courses in Blackboard; MSTC's online learning management system. Your online course instructor will provide these special Blackboard online course access instructions. Please note that student network accounts become available 24-48 hours after you register for your first class at MSTC.
Students are given a logon and password that grants them permission to access specific areas on the computer network. Guard this information! Students are held accountable for any activity that is done on the Network while using the assigned logon.

To log into any MSTC network computer please complete the following steps:
- To proceed, you will need the 8-digit Person ID number found on your class schedule or registration form.
- Your user name and initial password will be your 8-digit Person ID.
- At the login window enter the User Name and Password and then select COLLEGE from the “Log on to” drop down. When your log on is accepted you may be prompted to change your password.
-
A strong password must contain both alpha and numeric characters. It must be at least 7 characters in length. The password cannot be the same as any of the last four passwords used.
Network File Storage
As a student you have access to shared applications, student/instructor shared data areas, and a private “H” drive where you are expected to save your data. Only you and authorized network administrators have access to your “H” drive. This data is backed up to tape nightly. You will be allocated 275MB of data storage space on the network for your school files. Data saved on the network is deleted if the student fails to re-enroll within 180 days of their last date of attendance. Please read the network policies site for more information.
There are over 25 computer labs and study areas at the college connected to our data network. They provide access to resources such as the Internet, applications, and printers. The MSTC web site has information on network policies and procedures. By accepting and using the login issued to you as a student, you are responsible for reading and abiding by the rules set forth and stated in the policies.
Always logoff prior to leaving your workstation or your files (“H” drive and e-mail accounts) may be compromised.
