Counseling Staff: Shawn Zee

Whether deciding which program to pursue to learning how best to balance schooling with personal commitments; I welcome the opportunity to meet with students at MSTC's Marshfield campus for career, academic and personal counseling.

When I joined the counseling staff at Mid-State Technical College, I came with experience counseling people with physical, learning and emotional types of disabilities. Building upon this background I continue to help people recognize their own personal strengths and weaknesses followed by helping students learn how to use personal strengths to help overcome obstacles in their lives. This method can help students in a variety of areas from school work to career planning to helping with self-esteem and relationship development.

I also enjoy helping students learn to recognize and learn to work with their own personality traits, as well as learn a variety stress reduction methods. If long-term counseling or other services are warranted I can help students navigate their options in the community until they connect with the resources needed.

My own college training was completed at UW-Madison. I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling-Psychology and a license in professional counseling with the State of Wisconsin. Coming from the southeast corner of Wisconsin, my family and I are proud to call central Wisconsin “home” and value the excellent educational system we have in our community.

“Don’t settle for second best when choosing your road to success; make sure it’s the path that you believe in, and then give it your full attention.”
