Greetings and welcome to Mid-State Technical College! My name is Kay Grundhoffer and I am a Counselor on the Wisconsin Rapids campus. I work closely with a variety of students, many of whom are pursuing Technical & Industrial and Service programs. I started employment at MSTC in September 2006. Prior to MSTC, I worked at community and technical colleges in Minnesota, counseling and advising college students. I am originally from this area so coming “home” has been a wonderful experience for my family and me. I have a Masters degree in Counseling and a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Biology.
Over the years, I have adopted several personal and professional guidelines to live and work by that I would like to share with you.
- Treat all students with respect, kindness and exceptional “customer service.” It is my intention that students leave my office with every intention to return, having found someone they can turn to for guidance, support and information.
- Provide counseling to help students stay focused on their goals. I am available to help students overcome any obstacles that may hinder their success in college, making every attempt to be proactive in responding to students’ needs and concerns.
- Be accountable and reliable for information given to students. I will make every attempt to give the student accurate and up-to-date information.
- “Know thy self.” I strive to be true to myself as both a person and a counselor. I keep in mind why I chose to become a counselor in the first place – the intrinsic gratification that comes from helping people better their lives!
Please come visit me in the Student Affairs office (T111)!
