The Mid-State Student Nurses' Association (MSNA) has been an active organization since 1990. It is a pre-professional organization for the students in the nursing program at Mid-State Technical College.
It is the local chapter of th
e Wisconsin Student Nurse’s Association (WSNA)
and the National Student Nurse’s Association. MSNA membership is open to any
student currently taking nursing courses and those students on the waiting list
for the nursing program.
MSNA is designed to involve student nurses in activities to prepare them for their role of professional nurse. MSNA encourages our members to become involved in activities held both on campus and in the community. Meetings are held monthly to discuss current issues in the field of nursing that will allow the members to enhance their educational experience during their time at MSTC. Guest speakers are invited to our monthly meetings to share their nursing experience and expertise with our members.
MSNA plans a variety of events for our students. For more information on these events see Project link.
The National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) is the professional organization for students in schools of nursing and was started in 1952. Although it works with the American Nurses' Association and the National League for Nursing, it is a self-governing organization. The organization advocates for student rights and the rights of patients; and takes a responsible action on vital social and political issues. Participation in NSNA prepares students for eventual participation in professional nursing organizations.
MSNA is an active member of the Student Senate at MSTC. A representative of MSNA is selected to represent MSNA at Student Senate meetings and participate in making decisions regarding students and MSTC.
