Energy Efficiency Technician

Energy Efficiency Technician

Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

The field of energy efficiency is a rapidly growing career area in the green economy. Do you have good people, computer, and math skills? Are you interested in reducing energy usage and increasing the comfort of homes and businesses? Would you like to investigate and solve various building science problems such as excessive moisture in buildings? These skills are just part of what you can do with an Energy Efficiency Technician degree from MSTC.

You will receive hands-on training from skilled faculty in blower door testing, infrared thermal imaging, HVAC duct testing, building shell computer models, designing ventilation systems, and other projects. Students also study how to perform commercial lighting audits, residential and commercial energy audits, and residential energy upgrades/installations.

This program prepares you to evaluate the energy use patterns for residential and light-commercial buildings and recommend energy efficiency and alternative energy solutions for high-energy consuming buildings.

The Energy Efficiency Technician program is offered at Wisconsin Rapids Campus and is the only program of its kind offered in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
