First Day of Class

I had my first day of class Monday! How exciting to get going again; one step closer to the finish line! I did, however, have to come up with a new plan on how to learn so much information so quickly.

I know that I don’t, personally, learn well by reading the textbook. So when I looked at all the reading assigned for this week I was anxious. My solution was to buy a recorder to record lectures. Now I can listen to the same lecture as many times as I need to! I hope it helps! We will see next Monday for my first test. Stay tuned…

Back To School Time!

It is that time again! For those of us heading into second semester, it means preparing for the skills fair. I took a nice long break all summer from text books, and yes, from math as well. One plus one in July means please hand me a calculator! But today I pulled out the dosage calculations and a calculator to brush up for the math test at the skills fair. Next on my list to brush up on is the IV unit.

Quick math tip: When the medication package states to add 8ml to reconstitute the medicaiton for a concentration of 5mg/ml…Don’t get distracted by the 8ml, look for the concentration…Your “H” is 5mg, and your “Q” is 1ml for the D/H x Q= X formula.
