Mental Health

For all those students in Mental Health the 3rd semester class I thought this article would be really interesting to read. I read it and it gave a real situation of someone with bi-polar. It gave me a lot more insight on this disorder. Enjoy the article!

How did the first week go?

So how did the first week of classes go for everyone? Overwhelmed yet?  I know I’m sitting here trying to figure out where to start!! As a 3rd semester student I saw the 2nd semester students waiting for the skill fair and the math test. I remember that day and how nervous I was    I hope everyone did wonderful!! If you happen to slip up on some skills make sure you take full advantage of the open lab to practice those skills! The instructors have always helped me!

I remember in high school when the first day of class was all orientation and no homework and you never got right down into the work but let’s be honest here …Nursing school yup not that way at all!! The first day and week can be intense.  Wow.

Remember to take one day at a time! I know you have to plan ahead of course for things but sometimes if you are busy with school, kids and working just stay on top of things and think one day at a time. I got through my first year planning ahead but also staying focused on the present day!

Please also remember that your instructors are there for you and if you start to struggle even a little bit stop in and see them.

Good Luck this semester!

I’m sure many of us have been working hard this summer. Either hard at work or working hard at de-stressing our brains for the upcoming fall semester!  I spent the summer working on the 3rd semester course Mental Health. It was a great class and I learned a lot about mental health and how to change our nursing style with mental health patients. I’m excited for the semester clinical to begin so I can put some of my knowledge into practice.  I also have been working to earn some money for the school year and also spent extra time with my daughter! It was a great summer!Since the semester begins on August 23rd I want to remind students to open their binders and books and remember that we need to be prepared for the first day of class. No one wants to go into class not knowing what the teachers are talking about right!!For the incoming 3rd semester students like me make sure to go on the Wiki pages and take a look on what’s out there and what worksheets are due when!!!  Just be familiar with the course work!  Let’s not forget to start prepping on our math skills for that math test we will be taking. Enjoy these last few days before school starts. Enjoy the cooler weather and get outside for some fresh air. At least take one day for yourself if you can before things get super busy. Get the last few things done you wished you would of earlier in the summer. I spent some time yesterday going through my nursing binders and books from the following two semesters. I like to be organized and I know after the semester starts that are the last thing I would want to work on.

I’m so excited to be going into 3rd semester and knowing if everything goes well this will be my last year of school!!

See you all soon!
