Communities prosper when they have access to lifelong learning. Mid-State Technical College is committed to being a lifelong learning partner to its communities by providing a wide variety of opportunities beyond our traditional degree programs. Whether you’re looking for short-term personal enrichment opportunities or longer- term occupational upskilling or workplace training, the Workforce & Economic Development division at Mid-State is ready to serve you.

Additional community resources include cosmetology services available in our student-run on-campus salon and facility room rentals at each campus for qualified events.

Workforce & Economic Development

Mid-State’s Workforce & Economic Development team is working to address the skilled labor shortage in central Wisconsin. Our talent model upskills existing employees to achieve the next level through apprenticeship, continuing education, and workforce training.

Apprenticeship – This unique learning option combines on-the-job learning with classroom instruction sponsored by employers, employer associations, or labor/management groups that are able to hire and train in a working environment. Mid-State is actively pursuing innovative new apprenticeship opportunities to expand these win-win opportunities for students and employers.

Continuing Education – There is something for everyone at Mid-State, thanks to the rapidly growing continuing education courses now available. Offerings include everything from quality professional training needed to help licensed professionals maintain their edge and credentials to a wide array of personal enrichment and self-improvement classes.

Workforce Training – Business, industry, nonprofits, and community employers who are looking to upskill workers can work with Mid-State to design customized on- or off-site contract training opportunities. Funding is available to qualifying Wisconsin businesses through Workforce Advancement Training (WAT) grants, and Mid-State will even help you apply!
