MSTC’s Destination Registration offers help for new, returning students
June 30, 2014
Application and testing fees waived during event
Are you a recent high school student who is ready to take the next step? Are you already in the workforce, and interested in pursuing skills to advance your current career or start a new one? MSTC’s Destination Registration event is a drop-in, stress-free opportunity to learn more about how MSTC can prepare you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in today’s workforce. Whether a current MSTC student or a new applicant, this event is designed for you to stop in, get what you need, and be on your way quickly.
Each of MSTC’s four locations will host a Destination Registration event in July. Sessions will be held at Marshfield Campus (2600 West 5th Street) on July 14, the new Stevens Point Campus (1001 Centerpoint Drive) on July 15, Wisconsin Rapids Campus (500 32nd Street North) on July 16, and Adams County Center (401 North Main Street) on July 17. All sessions are from 4:00-6:30 p.m., and snacks and refreshments are provided.
Participants can speak with a new student specialist about which of the more than 100 associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates is right for them. A variety of experts will be on hand to answer questions about financial aid, the application process, and registration for classes. Individuals wishing to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should bring their 2013 tax returns (include parent’s 2013 taxes as well if under the age of 24). Approximately 80% of MSTC students receive some form of financial aid to help cover their educational expenses.
All MSTC application and Accuplacer testing fees are waived for anyone attending the event, saving participants up to $50. Individuals interested in completing a college application are encouraged to bring official transcripts from any high schools or colleges they previously attended; while not required, availability of official transcripts will significantly speed up the application process.
Accuplacer testing is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.; test takers should bring photo identification. Anyone arriving to Destination Registration after 5 p.m. will receive a voucher if they schedule another time to take the Accuplacer.
