MSTC Foundation Spring Semester scholarship recipients announced

Scholarships for high school seniors available

The Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) Foundation is pleased to announce the following scholarship recipients for Spring Semester. Listed below are the scholarship titles, monetary amounts, student recipients, their community residences, and academic programs in which they are enrolled.

2014 MSTC Foundation Spring Semester New Student: These scholarships were awarded to new students who enrolled beginning in January.

  • $500: Teri Calo, Oxford, Nursing; Jennifer Nilsen, Plover, Cosmetology; Amanda Phillip, Stevens Point, Business Management; Katie Dahlke, Stratford, Business Management; Travis Nehring, Waupaca, Machine Tool Technician; Danielle Domine, Wisconsin Rapids, Cosmetology.

2014 MSTC Foundation Spring Semester New Program New Student:

  • $750: Savannah Kramas, Mosinee and Jane Habeck and Lucinda Peleske, Wisconsin Rapids, Gerontology.

Wisconsin Hospital Association Foundation (WHA): Established in 2003 for final semester degreed healthcare program students, the WHA provides two annual full tuition awards (up to $2,000) to each of the sixteen Wisconsin technical colleges. MSTC’s recipient for spring 2014 is Kristin Somers, Custer, Nursing.

MSTC Diversity: Established in 2011 through fundraising efforts of the MSTC Diversity Committee for students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The spring 2014 recipient of $250 is Eric Grunseth, Abbotsford, Renewable Energy Specialist.

Farm Business & Production Management:  A $100 award established by agribusiness instructors to students enrolled in the Farm Business & Production Management program. This year’s recipients are Sandra Reigel, Pittsville and Joan Kolodziej, Stevens Point.

Kurt D. Heuer Honorary: Established in 2012 by Ed and Mary Heuer in honor of son, Kurt, to Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement students. The 2014 recipient of $600 is Andrew Henke, Wisconsin Rapids.

NewPage Wisconsin System, Inc.: Established in 2012 to assist students in Technical & Industrial programs. The recipient of this year’s $500 award is Scott Grubba, Amherst Junction, Electrical Power Engineering.

Dee Stevenson Memorial: A $250 award established in 2012 for Industrial Mechanical Technician program students. The 2014 recipient is Drew Painter, Almond.

Umhoefer Foundation: Established in 2009 for Marshfield area students enrolled in welding. This year’s recipient of $750 is Tanner Hansen, Marshfield.

The MSTC Foundation is also pleased to offer over $40,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors planning to attend MSTC in fall 2014. Scholarships have a value of $250-$1,250.  Applications are available online at or by contacting the Foundation Office at 715.422.5322 or Applications must be received by Friday, April 4.
