Opportunities for Men in Health Careers
Testimonials

Mike Lange, Director of Laboratory Services
Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, WI
“There is a huge need for skilled phlebotomists. Finding people that have been properly educated has been difficult. I just have to believe that men are going to have to start filling in more of these roles. I think there is going to be a great opportunity for men in these professions. They pay well and the work environment is fantastic. I see men fitting in very well.”

Steve Bradley, Surgical Technologist
St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, WI; MSTC graduate
“As a surgical technologist, I set up a sterile field and the instruments. During the case, we assist the surgeons by handling instruments and holding retractors”. “Surgical Technology is a great opportunity for males. The career can be a stepping stone to other health careers”.

Mike Stalker, Registered Nurse
King Veterans Home, MSTC graduate
“Nursing is not a job that I dreamed about in high school. When faced with a change and the need to pay bills, the practical side of me said, “They need RNs period. There is a shortage of RNs”. You can go anywhere and do just about anything. I like that flexibility.”

“If you are thinking of a second career because your job has been downsized or gone for whatever reason in these hard economic times, consider nursing. Being male is a benefit in nursing. It’s not considered a woman’s field anymore. I can give the male patients things that the female RNs can’t. My clientele at the Veterans Home appreciate having a male nurse”.
