MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Maintenance Technician at Mid-State Technical College – Wisconsin Rapids Campus. This is a full‑time position - 40 hours per week for 52 weeks per year. Work hours may vary to meet college needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work primarily at the Wisconsin Rapids Campus, under the supervision of the Facilities Director; work assigned at other locations as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other equipment, including changing filters, adjustment and replacement of belts, and cleaning of traps and strainers.
- Inspect operating equipment to ensure proper functioning, including checking pressures and temperatures.
- Install various building HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Make necessary modifications using manufacturer’s specifications and manuals.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
- Utilize a computerized building automation system for scheduling and building operation.
- Operate chemical and water treatment process equipment; test and analyze water for boiler use.
- Track electricity, natural gas, and water/sewer consumption and make recommendations for efficient operation of systems, including scheduling, retrofits, and improvements.
- Perform weekend and holiday building checks as assigned.
- Assign maintenance work and assist in training as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required; associate degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of related maintenance experience.
- Federal EPA and Wisconsin certified in the use and replacement of ozone-depleting refrigerants.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aptitude and advanced maintenance skills required.
- Knowledge of and maintenance experience in HVAC equipment, electrical and plumbing systems, and automated and pneumatic building control systems.
- Computer skills required.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals and engineering/architectural drawings and specifications.
- Must be physically able to perform job duties and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Must be available to report for work on short notice during emergencies.
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

WAGES: Hourly wage based on negotiated contract.
