Overview
Barber/Cosmetologist combines the theoretical concepts and practical instruction
you need to work as a cosmetologist or barber upon successful completion of the state
practitioner's licensing examination.
Learn hair cutting, styling, coloring, permanent waving and chemical hair relaxing. You also
receive instruction in sanitation and safety, facial and scalp treatments, barbering, state law,
make-up, pedicuring, manicuring and caring for wigs and
hair pieces. Most classes are offered in a traditional face-to-face format; Theory of General
Sciences, State Law, and Salon Business are offered only in an online format. Working on
mannequins, other students and in an on-campus salon completes the practical component of your
training. The Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing licenses this program.
Students are required to successfully complete 1800 hours of theoretical and practical instruction.
Students must purchase a kit comprised of prescribed and required tools and supplies. The cost of
the kit is approximately $2,500 and must be purchased
for use on the first day of class. The kit is not covered by Financial Aid so program
applicants must plan ahead for this expense.
The Barber/Cosmetologist program is a Technical Diploma and offered at MSTC's Wisconsin Rapids campus. |
