This certificate enables students to earn General Studies credits that transfer to the University of Wisconsin College System campuses toward the completion of an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree. You must complete 30 to 36 MSTC credits for the MSTC General Studies Certificate. You may apply for the General Studies Certificate after successfully completing 30 credits in English, Humanities, Mathematics & Natural Science, Social Sciences and Application and Performance, as listed in the table below. These credits can be applied toward the UW–College’s AAS degree.

The 60-credit Associate Degree allows students to transfer to four-year campuses of the UW–System as a college junior. Students must pass all courses with a grade of “C” or better and have an overall grade point average of 2.00 or better to earn a General Studies Certificate. Universities and colleges typically require a grade of “C” or better for all in-coming course work.
