Clear, concise communication is essential in a workplace. Gain a foundation in written and interpersonal communication skills that improve sharing of information, building teams and achieving goals in an organization. Emphasis is placed on defined writing tasks and on communication in a variety of work place situations and settings. Successful participants will be able to communicate effectively in writing and interpersonally with supervisors, subordinates and colleagues.
Delivery Format
Face-to-face classes are available at Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids and Adams every spring and fall term. Both day and evening classes are scheduled. Independent study delivery is also available. Beginning in the fall of 2007, an online version of Written Communication will be available.

Written Communication - 3 credits

Develops writing skills which include prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. A variety of writing assignments are designed to help the learner analyze audience and purpose, research and organize ideas, and format and design documents based on subject matter and content. Also develops reading and thinking skills through the analysis of a variety of written documents. Note: It is recommended that students enrolling in this course possess word processing skills.
Oral/Interpersonal Communication - 3 credits

Focuses upon developing speaking, verbal and non-verbal communication and listening skills through individual presentations, group activities and other projects.
