MSTC will Offer Judicial Reporting Associate Degree

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - During the Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) Board of Directors meeting held Monday evening, the Board approved a new associate degree program for fall 2008. The Judicial Reporting program prepares students to work in the court system as an official court reporter, to work as a freelance reporter supporting the court system and law offices, or to work in a variety of other fields such as a legislative reporter or real-time captioner benefiting the hearing-impaired.

According to Dr. Sue Budjac, Vice President of Academic Affairs, MSTC will share the Judicial Reporting program with Lakeshore Technical College (LTC). "Students would enroll in MSTC's existing general education courses while LTC would offer the Judicial Reporting classes via distance technology. This shared program provides a cost effective means to meet MSTC's local employer needs and would have no budget impact on MSTC's operational budget." Dr. Budjac added that the program is certified by the National Court Reporters Association.

The next Mid-State Technical College Board of Directors meeting will be held Monday, April 21 at the Wisconsin Rapids campus. Committee meetings are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., with the regular board meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. To learn more about MSTC programs and services, please call 888.575.6782 or visit the college's website at mstc.edu.
