Mid-State Technical College’s (MSTC) annual College Camp will be held Thursday, June 17 at MSTC’s Wisconsin Rapids Campus, 500 32nd Street North. This year’s camp theme is Game Day 2010. College Camp offers students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 hands-on opportunities to explore careers and skills needed for tomorrow’s jobs. During Game Day 2010, attendees will participate in three career sessions from the following “gaming” opportunities:
- Boggle – Machine Tool
- Candy Land – Early Childhood Education
- Chutes and Ladders – Junior Fire Fighting
- Clue – Laboratory Science
- Cranium – Journalism
- Don’t Break the Ice – Civil Engineering
- Monopoly – Criminal Justice-Corrections
- Operation – Nursing
- PayDay – Business
- Rock’em Sock’em Robots – Electronics
- Scene it – Mass Media
- Shark Attack – Computer Information
- Sorry – Energy Efficiency
- The Barbie Game – Cosmetology & Barbering
- The Game of Life – Renewable Energy
- Trouble – Law Enforcement
According to Betsy Feaster, Enrollment Advisor, the primary goal of MSTC’s annual College Camp is to broaden a young person's perspective of career possibilities through on-site, hands-on and fun career exploration. “It’s a great opportunity to explore careers and skills needed for tomorrow’s jobs.”
