The Mid-State Technical College Foundation has awarded $31,250 to 25 high school seniors. Each scholarship has a value of $1,250 and will provide financial assistance to students enrolled in associate degree or technical diploma programs during fall 2010.
The following lists the scholarship recipients’ high schools, their names, communities of residence, parents’ names and MSTC program for which they are enrolled.
Adams Friendship High School: Nicole Wortz, Friendship, is the daughter of Charles and Karen Wortz and is enrolled in the Nursing program.
Amherst High School: Alexandria Platten, Amherst, is the daughter of John Platten and Shelly Platten and is enrolled in the Business Management program. Anna Rasmussen, Waupaca, is the daughter of Peter and Ann Rasmussen and is enrolled in the Marketing program.
Assumption High School: Jasmine Markley, Wisconsin Rapids, is the daughter of Robert and Maggie Markley and is enrolled in the Administrative Assistant program.
Auburndale High School: David Altmann, Milladore, is the son of Larry and Gwen Altmann and is enrolled in the Renewable Thermal Energy Technician program. Jennifer Breu, Marshfield, is the daughter of Randy and Laurie Breu and is enrolled in the Nursing program.
Crossroads Christian High School: Caleb Kauer, Loyal, is the son of Stephen and Amy Kauer and is enrolled in the Biomedical Informatics Technician program.
Lincoln High School: Adam Anderson, Wisconsin Rapids, is the son of Michael and Wanda Anderson and is enrolled in the Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technician program. Jacob Halbersma, Vesper, is the son of John and Cathy Halbersma and is enrolled in the Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Technology program. Jacquelyn Henke, Wisconsin Rapids, is the daughter of Randy and Deb Henke and is enrolled in the Nursing program. Ryan Leff, Wisconsin Rapids, is the son of Ron and Sue Leff and is enrolled in the Business Management program. Nichole Schlotman, Wisconsin Rapids, is the daughter of Rod and Ann Schlotman and is enrolled in the Nursing program.
Marshfield High School: Kelly Guden, Marshfield, is the daughter of John and Tammy Guden and is enrolled in the Business Management program. Brandon Korth, Hewitt, is the son of Steve Korth and is enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician program.
Nekoosa High School: Erik Brost, Nekoosa, is the son of Mark and NorAnne Brost and is enrolled in the Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement program.
Pacelli High School: Andrew Poeschel, Stevens Point, is the son of Joseph and Michelle Poeschel and is enrolled in the Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement program.
River Cities High School: Amber Tracy, Wisconsin Rapids, is the daughter of Susan Kramer and is enrolled in the Cosmetology & Barbering program.
Rosholt High School: Quinton Zdroik, Rosholt, is the son of Chuck and Karen Zdroik and is enrolled in the Electrical Power Engineering Technician program.
Stevens Point Area High School: Kayla Chojnacki, Plover, is the daughter of Jim Chojnacki and John and Carolynn Ligenza and is enrolled in the Nursing program. Bryce Gunderson, Plover, is the son of Chris and Andrea Gunderson and is enrolled in the Renewable Thermal Energy Technician program. Andrew Klesmith, Stevens Point, is the son of Donald Klesmith and Laura Jungwirth and is enrolled in the IT-Programmer/Analyst program. Anne Wottreng, Junction City, is the daughter of John and Jane Wottreng and is enrolled in the Clinical Research Coordinator program.
Theodore Roosevelt High School: William Suplit, Stow, OH, is the son of Bill and Bunny Suplit and is enrolled in the Urban Forestry Technician program.
Waupaca High School: Alaura Grorich, Waupaca, is the daughter of Dan and Tina Grorich and is enrolled in the Medical Assistant program.
Wausau East High School: Madeline Schwede, Merrill, is the daughter of Bill and Jennifer Schwede and is enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy program.
The Foundation scholarship recipients were selected by the MSTC Scholarship Selection Committee. Students’ academic achievements, pre-entrance test result, extracurricular activities and responses to essay questions were reviewed and assessed by the committee.
