MSTC Students Hold Clothing Drive

Helping fellow students prepare for job interviews and new careers is a challenge taken on by Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) students in the Administrative Office Procedures class. Under the guidance of instructor Sharon Behrens, the students are sponsoring a clothing drive to help men and women make a positive change in their lives and careers.

According to Behrens, the clothing drive is for students who need free business attire for an interview or future career. “Individuals can make a clothing donation through Tuesday, April 13. Then on Thursday, we are partnering with the Career Closest to host Spring into Success, This event will provide students with the opportunity to select career clothing, participate in speed interviews with employers and attend other job preparation presentations.”

Drop boxes for clothing donations are available at several College locations, at the United Methodist Church of Port Edwards, 411 Wisconsin River Drive, and Tradition Cleaners in Wisconsin Rapids, 540 E. Grand Avenue. Behrens said acceptable clothing items include men’s and women’s business suits, dress pants or khakis, shirts, blouses, or polo tops, skirts or dresses, dress shoes (like new only), new colored dress socks, and accessories such as jewelry, purses, belts, coats or jackets. In addition, hangers and plastic bags are needed. Tax deduction forms are available at the drop off sites and located in a folder attached to the drop off box. Behrens said that any remaining clothing items will go to the Career Closet.
