MSTC Hosts Manufacturing Academy for High School Juniors & Seniors

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) will host a manufacturing academy for high school juniors and seniors, June 16 through June 19. A second academy for high school juniors and seniors will be hosted on June 23 through June 26. The academy is free of charge and will be held at MSTC's Wisconsin Rapids campus, 500 32nd Street N.

MSTC, in partnership with Nicolet and Northcentral Technical Colleges and the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, received a grant from the Department of Workforce Development to fund the academy. The goal is to retain and grow manufacturing businesses by equipping area youth with valuable skills and onsite experiences as they consider careers in manufacturing.

Attendees will design and fabricate a product in a campus manufacturing lab, tour local manufacturing facilities, receive a six-hour Career Exploration course, as well as information about financing their education. Upon completion, attendees will have earned one to two credits of technical college coursework. All supplies, refreshments and lunch as well as a gas card will be provided to each participant. The registration deadline for the Manufacturing Academy is Friday, June 6. For more information contact Wendy Bruhn at (715) 422-5366 or via email at wendy.bruhn@mstc.edu.
