STEVENS POINT - Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) is offering a new personal enrichment opportunity at the Stevens Point campus, 933 Michigan Avenue. The four-session course, Reinventing Retirement: Creating a Retirement Strategy & Plan, will be held April 2-23 on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m.

This course helps identify and communicate the significant non-financial issues involved in moving from employment to retirement. Participants will learn about the social changes involved with retirement and working after retirement.

According to instructor Ron Weseloh, a flood of individuals will be retiring soon, when the Baby Boomers decide to exit the work place. "These 50+ workers comprise the largest demographic group in U.S. history and will impact retirement like they have impacted our culture since they were born." Weseloh said that unlike other retirement classes or orientations that focus on the financial and healthcare issues, this course deals with social adaptation to retirement and how one can develop strategic tools to help plan their next age of productivity.

"If you are contemplating retirement, have set a date to retire or have recently retired, you may be feeling a need to assess and plan for your future after work. Much of retirement planning today focuses on the financial and healthcare issues of retirement," said Weseloh. He added that little attention is provided to the socialization aspects of retirement, such as the question "How will I cope with life after work?"

MSTC's Reinventing Retirement course will provide participants with a strategy for planning and charting their course through the era of active engagement and retirement. The course focuses on providing a tool kit to assess strengths, expectations, options and needs. Weseloh said with the proper tools to organize thoughts and ideas, individuals will be better prepared to chart a plan of action to reinvent their retirement.

	Session 1: Not Your Parent's Retirement. Making the Big Leap. Should I or Shouldn't I?
	Session 2: Retirement Triangulation. Three Major Considerations Shaping Retirement.
	Session 3: Back to the Future: Evaluating Options and Charting a Course for Your Future
	Session 4: Don't Just Stand There, Go Do It.
