WISCONSIN RAPIDS-Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) students are now able to rent the textbooks needed for general education courses. According to Nelson Dahl, Vice President of Finance, the textbook rental program will save students on average 65% in lieu of purchasing their textbooks. "We could reduce students' average cost to purchase a book from $81.64 to a rental price of $28.52. Students' out-of-pocket savings for general education books will average $300," said Dahl. He said the rental program would operate as an extension of the college's bookstores. If the program is successful, Dahl said it will be expanded to other program areas beyond general education. Dahl added that he was not aware of any other Wisconsin technical college that has a book rental program. "MSTC's proposed textbook rental program is intended to improve student affordability and access to our programs."
MSTC's spring semester classes begin January 15 at campuses in Marshfield, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids, and at the college's Adams County Center.
