MSTC Foundation Celebrates 26 Years of Scholarship Distribution
Spring Scholarship Recipients Announced

WISCONSIN RAPIDS—As the Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) Foundation celebrates its 26th year of scholarship distribution to MSTC students, it is pleased to announce scholarships awarded to MSTC students during spring semester. The following list includes the name and amount of the scholarship, student recipient names, their community of residence and the occupational program in which they are enrolled:

  • 2007 Mid-Year Scholarship – Eight $500 scholarships were awarded to new full-time students who first enrolled in January: Kevin Popp, Loyal, Supervisory Management; Jonathan Vann, Marshfield, IT-Programmer/Analyst; Caitlin Kallian, Neillsville, Urban Forestry Technician; David Barger, Plover, Instrumentation; Kelly Zdroik, Rosholt, Cosmetology & Barbering; Ronald Van Ert, Rudolph, Industrial Mechanical Technician; Ann Vang, Stevens Point, Financial Services Representative; and Krista Hafenbredl, Wisconsin Rapids, Nursing. Scholarship recipients were selected by the MSTC Scholarship Selection Committee. Students’ academic achievements, pre-entrance test results, extracurricular activities and responses to essay questions were reviewed and assessed by the committee.
  • Mid-State Student Nurses’ Association (MSNA) – The 2006-07 members of MSNA sponsored two scholarships which were matched by the MSTC Foundation. Jennifer Richter, Custer, and Tamara Conley, Wisconsin Rapids, each received a $500 award for the spring 2007 semester. Students were selected based on Nursing core course enrollment, academics and student organization membership/association.
  • Stephen W. Kage Scholarship – Established by Civil Engineering alumnus in December 2003, the fourth annual $500 scholarship was awarded to Kurt Swedberg, Mosinee, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician
  • Richard Kostuchowski Memorial Scholarship – Established for MSTC Criminal Justice students in March 2004 in honor of the late Richard Kostuchowski, Stevens Point, the third annual $500 scholarship was awarded to Jamie Chappa, Plover, Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement.
  • Wisconsin Hospital Association Foundation Scholarship – The Wisconsin Hospital Association Foundation, Inc. offers two annual scholarships, up to $2,000, to each of the 16 technical colleges for students enrolled in their final semester of a degreed healthcare program. The MSTC Foundation awarded the spring semester scholarship to Brian Dean, Port Edwards, Nursing.
