Civil Engineering Career Exploration Event at MSTC

WISCONSIN RAPIDS –Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) will host a career exploration event for the civil engineering field Friday, April 13 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Rapids campus, 500 32nd Street N. During this unique exploration opportunity, attendees will experience the latest technology and participate in civil engineering activities while getting a closer look at the college’s Civil Engineering Technology–Highway Technician program. Anyone interested in considering this profession where creative, hard work yields tangible results is encouraged to attend the career exploration event. Hands-on activities include Google Sketchup, Google Earth, soil testing, concrete breaking and surveying.

The Civil Engineering-Highway Technician program is a nontraditional occupation (NTO). According to the U.S. Department of Labor, NTOs are jobs in which 25% or less of the workforce is female. Typically, NTOs pay 20-30% more than jobs traditionally held by women and offer excellent benefits and career advancement potential.

Space is limited for the civil engineering career exploration event. The event is free and lunch is provided. Interested persons may register by calling the college’s toll free number, 888-575-6782, extension 5500. Registration is also available via email at enrollment@mstc.edu.
