WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) will host free, spring General Education Development (GED) orientations at four campus locations. The GED is the national test by which individuals are able to earn their high school credential. One out of seven adults in the United States has earned a GED. The GED exam is made up of five tests: Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
A Certificate of General Education Development is awarded after participants successfully pass all five GED tests. Individuals can go one step farther by taking the GED tests and also completing Health, Civics and Employability Skills requirements to receive a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Both credentials are awarded by The Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
According to Vickie Lock, Associate Dean in the General Education Division, the upcoming GED Orientations provide great opportunities for individuals who haven’t earned a high school diploma. “Make pursuing an education and earning your GED a ‘doable’ New Year’s resolution. I encourage interested individuals to take advantage of these ‘New Year’ opportunities at MSTC,” said Lock.
