MSTC Holds Information Sessions Regarding Services for Veterans
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) will hold information sessions for veterans and their dependents to learn about educational benefits available to them. “MSTC recognizes the sacrifice of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. If you are a veteran, or the spouse or dependent child (age 18-26) of a Wisconsin deceased or service connected disabled veteran, you may be eligible for veterans' educational benefits to help you achieve a great education,” said Mary Jo Green, Financial Aid Supervisor & Veterans’ Representative.

The four information sessions will be held as follows: Stevens Point campus, December 12, 7:30-10:00 a.m.; Wisconsin Rapids campus, December 13, 4:00-7:00 p.m.; Adams center, December 14, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; and Marshfield campus, December 19, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Green says during the information sessions MSTC staff will be available to meet with individuals to discuss veterans’ educational benefits and the veteran’s application process. Staff will also discuss educational opportunities and the college enrollment process. “We provide services to veterans and their eligible dependants in applying for and receiving Veterans Administration educational benefits. We assist veterans in completing the necessary paperwork to ensure they receive the proper entitlement and guide them towards a variety of campus resources ranging from tutoring to career and personal counseling,” said Green. “For example, some veterans may not be aware that if they were a Wisconsin resident when they began their term of active duty, they qualify for a 50 percent tuition waiver at MSTC through the Wisconsin G.I. Bill.” “There is no post-service time limitation on this benefit and you can attend classes on a part-time or full-time basis,” added Green.
