MSTC Offers "Four after Four" at Stevens Point Campus
Four Associate Degrees Available after 4 p.m.
STEVENS POINT – Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) offers four business associate degrees with classes beginning after 4.p.m. at the Stevens Point campus, 933 Michigan Avenue. According to Steve Smith, Campus Dean, these offerings are designed for professionals who wish to prepare for, or advance within, the Accounting, Business Administration, IT-Programmer/Analyst or Supervisory Management fields.

Smith says more adults are choosing to attend college, either as first-time students or as returning students seeking to complete a degree started earlier in life. “For an adult learner, school is usually one of many responsibilities. We make it doable to get a quality education while holding down a career and juggling family responsibilities,” Smith said. “We offer flexible classes and an excellent location for working adults,” he added.

MSTC fall semester classes begin August 14. Details about the “four after four” associate degree programs at the Stevens Point campus follow:

bullet
Accounting – Accounting provides a strong career path for advancement in most businesses. Students learn to assemble, interpret, analyze and project financial information. Graduates are skilled at preparing managerial reports, cost studies, tax papers, audit findings, system analysis and financial statements.

Students develop technical and interpersonal skills in supervision, decision making, human resources, finance, leadership, team building and software.

IT-Programmer/Analyst – Effectively operating and programming computers is a highly valued skill. Students learn how computers are used for evaluating, reporting, and analyzing critical data for day-to-day and long-range operations. Graduates are prepared to operate, program and modify computer programs.

bullet
Supervisory Management – This program is tailored to meet the needs of employed workers seeking advancement to a supervisory or managerial position. Students develop skills in planning, finance, human resources, leadership, safety, team building, project management and decision making.

Smith says he encourages adult learners to consider the wide variety of support services available at MSTC which assist students in successfully reaching their academic and career goals. “These include academic advising, financial aid, career placement and free tutoring,” Smith said. “Often, the first step in deciding to go to or come back to college is the hardest. Our counselors have experience and dedication in helping adult learners transition into our campus environment. We help students seek balance between school and other life commitments,” he added.

Interested individuals may meet with a counselor or register for classes in the “four after four” associate degree programs at MSTC’s Stevens Point campus. For additional information, contact Dave Colby, Business Division Associate Dean, at 715-342-3126 or via email at dave.colby@mstc.edu
